FAQ

What does PBX stand for?

Private Branch Exchange.

What is a PBX system?

PBX commonly refers to any office phone system.

Are there different types of PBX systems?

Yes.  Traditional PBX systems have used the analog phone network, Hosted PBX systems utilize VoIP, the internet voice network, and some hybrid systems use both.

How do I know which is the right system for me?

Educate yourself and ask lots of questions from any prospective provider.  Explain your needs and explore the best options available for your company.  Your phone system says a lot about your business, so be sure with whatever choice you make.

Is there a service you recommend?

Free PBX Guide has tested various PBX systems and we have personally found that a Hosted PBX works best for us.  That doesn’t mean a Hosted PBX is right for everybody, but we’ve been very happy and tell others to at least evaluate whether it meets their requirements.  Having tried numerous providers, we currently use the Hosted Office Phone SystemTM by FonAngle Communications.

How much can I save with a Hosted PBX?

Most companies have been able to cut their telecom costs in half.  No PBX equipment is required, which saves on installation, maintenance and time.  Once you add in free long distance calling and all the included business calling features, you’ve reduced your bill quite significantly.
